Lovino stared at the freshly swabbed floor his eyes zoning in and out of focus. His eyelids felt incredibly heavy and honestly if he weren't being watched under narrowed eyes, he would have fallen asleep right there and then. There was something and the warm early morning air that had Lovino wishing he had never been made to leave his bunk. Sun filtered through the old patterned glass windows and for a moment Lovino appreciated how pretty it looked on the wooden floors. That was before his mop and temporary crutch shifted under his applied weight and slid out for underneath him. With a surprised yelp he slammed his foot down to save him from falling over.
Fuck, embarrassing much...
He steadied himself and felt the tiredness that had vanished in the moment of surprise slowly trickle back into his body. Argh... He needed something to get his mind off it. He looked around at all the other people that cluttered the room.
This would have been a great time for him to have some friends in the legion.
As much as Lovino liked to believe he was made of stone and heartless, he really wasn't . He wanted a friend as much as he felt that having one would only hurt him all the more. He closed his eyes but then felt himself slipping under so quickly opened them back up, staring back at the floor.
The reason he hadn't been able to sleep recently was because of the reoccurring nightmares he had. Rosa… She would be there and then the next moment, she was gone. Just like real life.
Lovino knew in someways that her death wasn't completely his fault… but he could have prevented it… He could have. Somehow, someway, he could have done something extra that would mean that instead of being here swabbing already clean floors he would be spending his days walking along the bottom of the walls hand in hand with the girls of his dreams. Choices we make and the decisions we follow through are what shapes our lives and the way we are now. Not all choices and decisions are as clean cut as others and in the heat of the moment some won't do the same things they would have otherwise. Lovino thought life was unfair to only those who believed it was so. Life wasn't unfair, it was just. But no matter how much Lovino liked to think he actually believed that, he still cursed the world for what happened to him. He hated the world and what it had taken from him, but mostly he cursed himself. How could he kid himself Rosa's death was all his fault. He could have saved her had he not let his stupid cowardice get in the way.
Lovino gripped the mop and got back to making the floor as clean as the Corporal's asshole. He really needed to find a way to skip out on this stupid task...
