その日人類は思い出したXXXヤツらに支配されていた恐怖をXXX鳥籠の中に囚われていた屈辱を On that day, mankind received a grim reminder... Nikita Arlovsky Age: 19 Gender: Male Ethnicity: East Slavic (Belarusian/Russian) Rank: Cadet of the Scouting Legion - <titan shifter> Birthday: August 25th Physical Appearance: Nikita would probably be mistaken as a model if such an occupation existed. His height is just slightly above average and he has a muscular build somewhere in the grey line between lean and sturdy. He has somewhat thin platinum blonde hair and eyes like marbles made of ice which tend to make his glares all the more piercing. Distinguishing Features: Being able to turn into a titan tends to make one stand out amongst a crowd of people. Some have described it as a "male counterpart to the Female Titan." His titan form is about 15 m tall, with no skin except on his hands, neck and feet. It's only those skinned areas that are able to crystallize, and he often creates dagger-like extensions from his hand, which merges the fingers together. Crystallizing the neck or feet often turn out messier with some missing areas and spikes. Besides the ability to turn into a titan, he has a mysterious tattoo in some unknown script (Russian) on the nape of his neck. The few who have bothered asking what it means weren't able to get anything out of it. (Coincidentally, they tended to die on the following mission, hm.) Personality: Nikita has an intimidating air to him, even if he doesn't look like one of those buff criminals. As much as he looks like he's scowling at the whole world, he tries to stay detached from other people and events that don't concern himself or his family. So it's not surprising he acts antisocial often and gets easily annoyed by people who try to keep nosing in. It's rather difficult for anyone to get in close terms with him, especially with his view of others as strangers. This attitude also leads to him having difficulty having empathy towards anyone outside of his inner circle. Whether becoming part of said inner circle is good or not can be questionable, however. Despite the fact that he is immovably loyal to the few he cares about, his moral obligation to make sure those people are alright go a bit too far. This may lead to what appears like stalking behavior - following the person around if he feels the other may not be safe, digging up dirt on whoever might be an enemy to said person, etc. But really, it's all with the best intentions. This is all part of a stubbornness which has been part of him since he was born. Nikita's a complete skeptic when it comes to trying out something or going with a plan, but when he decides to go with it, chances are it's not going to change much under his watch. He believes that the stronger and more focused force will be the ultimate winner and his actions follow accordingly. This constant focus on the goal leaves him a bit inept in other areas, particularly in the social sphere. Not having many interactions with new people when he was young didn't help either. Subtlety is something which Nikita still has a ways to go in, with maybe the occasional wit which slips from his mouth. Relationships, particularly romantic ones, are something which he has much more to learn about, though he's not willing to commit the time. If someone's flirting is actually able to get through to him, he'd easily get flustered by the smallest thing, partially because he just doesn't know what to do. One thing about the Belarusian is that he often puts his individual will/desires away for the sake of the bigger goal. This might almost make it seem like he lacks much individual wants (though the stalker-esque behavior speaks otherwise,) but he's not used to just stating what he wants and going to get it, especially if it's purely selfish. The times where that does happen, he tends to feel a bit guilty about it later, and maybe even try to make up for it somehow. Not that he makes any of that obvious, of course, that just displays weakness. History: Nikita was born the youngest of three in the Korgod village in Wall Maria, but he has no memories of that since the family ran away and moved to a remote location while he was an infant. His parents held some suspicion that Nikita might be a titan shifter because it was an ability shared by the bloodline (although not all of them could transform.) It was at age 6 that Nikita was first able to turn into a titan, although purely by accident, when he accidentally scratched himself while helping his sibling gather firewood. From then on, his parents would make him focus on training and combat more than working the fields and managing the household. His special abilities as a titan were learned quickly and taken advantage of by styling his own style of "knife" combat. But as much as fighting was emphasized in the early part of his life, what was even more emphasized was the importance of family- how no matter what may happen, there will always be your blood relatives to lean back on. This was especially important for his family, for despite their history of living in poverty, they have gained the gift (and curse) of titan transformation by some godly force. In short, they were connected by an ability that could become their hope or despair. Nikita even had to get a tattoo which would forever serve as a reminder of his role. Out of the three, Nikita was probably the one who took it the most seriously, or at least the one that showed it the most blatantly. It's not like he had much interaction with anyone else besides family back then, anyway. Everyone else was just some faceless strangers who were different. He and his siblings were told the full story of their ancestry, how it went back all the way to the appearance of titans. They had always lived outside of the walls, outside of the pathetic protection which could only last humanity for so long. The only reason they'd lived in the walls in the first place was that his parents' generation produced no titan shifters and had no choice but to move out from such a disgrace. At night his mother would spend time telling stories about a pantheon of gods who ruled and were worshipped absolutely before the days of the titans. Just a year before the fall of Wall Maria, the family suddenly decided to move back in by the outskirts of the village, but they did not have enough money to buy even a small cottage. Honestly, Nikita thinks back to this time as perhaps his happiest of his childhood. Although just getting by was difficult and a daily challenge (especially when winter came,) the combat training was halted and he really did feel like they were together as a family- cheering each other up when times were bad, celebrating at good moments. But maybe his memory of this is somewhat biased because he was more likely to get the extra food as the youngest child. But then the Colossal Titan happened. There was a rapid shift in the atmosphere and Nikita's parents were much more serious, almost desperate. They gave all three of them plans on what to do, on what they should keep in mind if they want to make sure that their family doesn't fully rip apart. Nikita's instructions were to join the scouting legion, but don't actively try to climb up the ranks. The other details are confidential, except the one last time he heard his parents remind him: Family is always first, the rest of the world only sees you as a stranger. He signed up for military training, and he found it surprisingly not that bad. He got decent, regular meals, the 3DMG training was new but not too much to handle. Really what irked him was having to share quarters with the other male trainees. He never really got along with the others, though some have tried being friends with him because he was ranked #1 and was far better than anyone else in his training corps. So Nikita, reluctant as he was about joining the scouting legion, followed those last words he ever heard from his parents, although secretly wishing some secret instruction would wind its way to him, if only for some hope. He stubbornly maintained close contact with his siblings, whispering to each other in their dying tongue when need be. Luckily for them, they were only under a slight amount of suspicion for the odd language they knew, and no outsider knows of Nikita's shifting abilities just yet. Likes: = Knives: This might seem a bit odd, but for Nikita, knives give him a sense of security. He always has one knife under the pillow, one under the mattress, and some in his jacket just in case. = Privacy: Nikita likes to spend some time silently contemplating to himself. The village he grew up in was a rather quiet place, and even with two siblings, he'd be able to get some down time for himself with his thoughts. Living inside Wall Rose has a busier feel to it overall, which he doesn't really like. = People who get his humor: = Sparring: It's great in that it's not serious like a real fight, and gives Nikita the opportunity to "steal" some aspects of another person's fighting style (unless they just really suck.) Dislikes: * Intrusion of Privacy: At least by people he's not comfortable with (which is the vast majority.) The lack of privacy he has as a soldier (and in the Scouting Legion, no less,) bothers him enough already, so anyone trying to nose in is likely to get a punch in the face * Being forced to make choices: Nikita isn't really used to making his own choices and often times he'd just follow along if he wasn't against the decision. Being pressured to choose one thing or another immediately is an uncomfortable position for him to be with and often times he ends up choosing without his individual interests in mind. * Being at the center of attention: He doesn't give a shit about most people and wants to avoid them most of the time, not to mention that being at the center of attention means others will most likely notice if he accidentally lets something slip. * That weird cult: Most of the soldiers find the cult annoying, but it really strikes a nerve for Nikita (why so? well you could look at the quirks, for one.) Strengths: + Hand to hand combat: as expected from someone who'd been training since they were young, Nikita excels in hand to hand combat, especially with knives. + Lying: also expected from someone like him, Nikita is very adept at telling lies, especially when making things up as he goes. He tends to look somewhat annoyed when he does this, but considering how he looks grumpy all the time, it doesn't really point him out with a red flag. + Focus: Nikita is able to display very strong focus while being able to notice something else happening. This isn't limited to just combat, but in any type of work whether it's gathering wood or cleaning. + Stealth: Since he's not so great with making relations, Nikita often relies on stealth when trying to gain information. He knows how to step around silently and can hide well, especially if he has his 3DMG on. + Good Fighting Instinct Weaknesses: - Teamwork: He often doesn't trust his comrades well enough to do things for him, which is why the vast majority of his titan kills are solo. - Throws away self-interest: Although this is good from a strategic point of view, Nikita can seem almost too willing to give himself up for something worth dying for. When this happens, though, he's actually more likely to make bad decisions. - Desensitized: Unless you're in the (very) small circle of people he cares about... yeah he doesn't give a rat's ass. This can lead to him making decisions which costs the lives of others to achieve a goal, which may or may not have been necessary in the first place. - Stubbornness: As great as determination is for a soldier, this can also end up as a bad thing when going overboard. Nikita, when determined on a goal, will not stop to think back on it and will always keep going. Had he been just your regular soldier he probably would've died long ago but alas, he isn't. - 3DMG Blades: It's not that he's bad with them (he's actually decent,) but since he's so used to knives it can sometimes get in the way of fighting (try handling a blade like a knife and see how that works out for you.) Fears: ~ Losing his siblings: Nikita persuaded himself that he's ready to die if need be. However, he'd be devastated if either one of his siblings died or sustained a terrible injury. He thinks of himself as their protector, since he's the best out of the three at fighting. Family was the whole reason he got into any of this, and if that all disappeared, there was no reason for him to be around either, is there? ~ Becoming useless: Either by losing his titan shifting/fighting abilities or forced into a situation where he can't do anything. He believes that useless people are inferior and waste food. If something bad were to happen that made him 'useless,' he might as well have died to have a nobler end. But this fear also adds as a motivator to get better, stronger, faster. And when he's in the middle of a battle, he wastes no time to think about that. ~ Spiders: This one appears to have come out of nowhere, but really it came from an incident where little Nikita found a basement in the cottage when they left for the unknown village and ended up getting covered in cobwebs and spiders. Nowadays, he has a tendency to freeze at the sight of them. Quirks: # He tends to clean his blades/knives in his quarters when nervous # Something which intrigues people about Nikita more than just the tattoo written in some cryptic alphabet is that there are hints that he may worship some odd faith. Nikita keeps it very secret, but you might hear him whispering to himself in Russian and keeps an amulet with some unknown symbol. Skillset: (On a Scale of 1 to 10: 10 being the highest) Physical Strength: 9 Intelligence: 7 Teamwork: 2 Confidence: 6 Agility: 9 Roleplay Sample: This shouldn't have happened. This wasn't part of the plan, but somehow bad luck had piled on Nikita and forced this situation upon him. The first incident was when he woke himself up and found he'd accidentally cut himself in his sleep. He hissed at the pain and lifted his arm to see that as usual of a minor cut, steam was already flowing out. He'd covered him arm under the blanket again but noticed for a split second that someone on the bed opposite of his had watched. The other guy, Daniel, closed his eyes almost immediately, but not fast enough to escape Nikita's watch. At first he tried giving the benefit of the doubt, it was rather dark after all, with only the dim light of a lamp because of one trainee who was too much of a wuss. But Daniel started to act suspiciously, giving those stares almost daily. It irritated Nikita to the point where he challenged the other to a spar, but that just gave an opportunity for his secret to come out to a wider audience. (He did get a small cut on his hand, which he immediately sucked on so that no one would see any steam.) So now Nikita stood on the roof of a building, with only Daniel nearby. Smaller, 5m class titans were preoccupied eating up the other trainees who were with them. "You helped lead all these titans here, into Trost, didn't you?" Nikita blinked. He hadn't expected such bold words to come from the other's mouth. Then again, they were alone now, and either of them could die any minute now. "I would do no such thing." Nikita stated clearly, "This isn't the time for that kind of thinking can't you see that-" "Of course I can see everyone dying!" Daniel yelled and pointed his blade at the Belarusian, "And that's why it's all the more important to get rid of the source! You're some kind of mutated half-titan freak, aren't you!?" Nikita glared at the other, "I'm not a freak of any sort." He said, tone still solid. Not that there was much point to it, since Daniel was in no mindset to consider alternatives. "It's because of freaks like you that I watched my whole family get eaten," Daniel growled through gritted teeth, "But I'll make sure I'll slice you up real good." Nikita scowled, "I wasn't in the group who planned on breaking the walls down," He took a step back and a small knife appeared from inside his jacket sleeve, "But if you really won't shut up, I have no choice." He jumped from the roof and cut the palm of his hand. A big flash erupted and as the dust flew away a 15m titan stood in Nikita's place, glaring at Daniel. Nikita's practically forbidden from transforming then but really, it was the other's fault. Nikita just thought that he might as well satisfy the other's suspicions, if only to fill the other with more dread when defeated. The battle was a quick one- pathetically quick, really. Daniel was decent enough at dealing with the regular blockhead titan, but Nikita was far beyond his level. The soldier had tried to go around using the buildings while staying relatively level to him, which he thought was a naive plan. He snatched the other by the 3DMG wire and threw it right at a 7m titan who had just noticed them. Nikita transformed back right afterwards and flew off, only glancing at the titan who was eating the splattered parts of the young man he used to train with. Did he feel any regret, remorse? No, not really. Had some other person found him in his titan form, he would've regretted it, but the coast was clear and he'd only been a titan for barely a minute. At least Daniel had died immediately upon being thrown to the titan, blood splattering on the brainless creature's chest. It was never something that was supposed to happen (far too risky, especially this early on,) but no, he felt nothing for the victim who just happened to be awake that accidental night.
