その日人類は思い出したXXXヤツらに支配されていた恐怖をXXX鳥籠の中に囚われていた屈辱を On that day, mankind received a grim reminder... Lovino Vargas Age: 18 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Going back many generations Lovino can trace his ancestry to the regions of South Italy Rank: Cadet Birthday: March 17th Physical Appearance: A very handsome boy with chocolate brown hair and a darker olive complexion due to his Mediterranean heritage, but all attractiveness that could have been highlighted in his face is hardened by a strict and a constantly frowning expression. He is slim framed and tall reaching about 175cm, making him lanky and thin but has been able to obtain some muscle mass despite this. He takes pride in both his biceps that have developed over years of working in the fields. He has hazel eyes and a brow that is constantly furrowed. His hands are incredibly calloused from his childhood and his back is covered in moles and scratches from his farming lifestyle prior to the fall of wall Maria. He has a slight swagger when he walks due to a broken right ankle he had as a child. But through the years he has adapted the walk despite the fact his ankle is fully healed. He is able to pull a charming smile or a nasty scowl baring a mixed bag of some straight and some not so straight teeth. But due to his circumstances of youth he was never able to get them all correct. The only method his father ever offered was to straighten them with his farming tools. Surprisingly Lovino never took him up on this offer. Distinguishing Features: His hair is a mess of curly, straight and strands that don't understand the logic of gravity. He has a curl that won't stay down despite any methods of treatment and is a source of great frustration. Personality: Pre – Fall of Wall Maria – Lovino was friendly and kind to women, but was curt and less social to men. Despite appearing to be tougher due to his height and quite serious expression, he was quite cowardly especially when it came to his Mama’s flaming temper. He was stubborn, quite manipulative when it comes to his way but still very timid. Though he was not very extremely skilled with his hands, it is said that he was still good at farming the lands he grew up on. He also had quite a vulgar tongue, often calling others "bastard"s or other rude names. When it came to his family Lovino was incredibly protective and quite defensive. Not a bad word could be spoken about them. slacked off and slept when it came to chores (that didn’t include being outside and farming); he was rather clumsy when he actually tried to do them. As a toddler he also had a bed-wetting problem and had trouble finding the toilet due to the fact that since he lived in such an isolated part of the outer wall they needed an outhouse, thus Lovino as a child was too scared to venture outside into the night to go. He also suffered from the disease Choreia as a child, and that it played a part in his clumsiness. His Father attempted to heal him by making him dance at family gatherings; he has since been able to recover from the disease, whether due to those efforts or not. When angered Lovino would usually forget to be scared and was described to be quite a vengeful child, though this would usually result in him losing the fight with more cuts and bruises than his opponent. He was also one to fall in love hard and fast. But he wasn’t a player. He took all feelings seriously and never would be one to play on someone’s emotions for fun. Post – Fall of Wall Maria – Lovino became almost a shell of his former self. He showed quite a limited range of ability to even comprehend that which happened around him. He became aggressive, sometimes even when not provoked. He had almost, in a way, forgotten to be cowardice since now his ability to fear anything had been stripped away. He lacked respect for those who were above him and thus leading to his contempt for their ability to lead. His ability to use foresight caused him to clash constantly with those who planned their movements as he sometimes was able to see problems where none had seen them before, but if it was more out of contempt than genuine concern not even Lovino is totally sure. He was always empathetic for those who didn’t have a fair advantage or found things hard as he has gone through hard times himself. So it does make it hard for him when he is forced to follow rules that make it that the fittest survive. But he would never act upon these feelings only resent the society that made it so. He is selfish and untrusting. The only time he shows any other signs of happiness or affection is when he is reunited with his cousin “Pitat” History: Pre-Fall of Wall Maria – Lovino lived out on the farm with his family producing tomatoes and various other fruits and vegetables. He was a hard worker, and found that he could work without rest for a while. He liked the tedious work of the farm and found it comforting as a younger child to have a schedule. Change did scare him so he continued this for a long time until after a scheduled family trip into the more populous towns, to sell their produce, he caught sight of the Garrison walking around the civilians and saw them in a light of awe. They seemed good natured and were kind to the people. He chose from then on his destiny was to work for the Garrison. It only took two more years for him to persuade his parents to allow him to join the Military and set off. He travelled by himself to the trainee grounds and learnt to be quite resilient and resourceful to keep himself healthy, fed and well hydrated during his travels. He joined the Military Trainees quite hopeful and optimistic about what he would achieve from it, but was bitterly disappointed when on the first day he was verbally physically and emotionally assaulted by the chief instructor who made him run laps until he was exhausted beyond his limit. This was due to him being so unused to being shouted at that his eyes watered despite his greatest wishes against it. He was labelled a coward for the greater part of the first year he spent in trainees. Lovino still planned to be a part of the Garrison despite all the stood in his way and the months of hard labour and training he suffered through as a part of the trainees hardened him. It was also upon meeting a fellow trainee that Lovino first realised what it felt like to be in love. Rosa Amble, a few months younger than Lovi had captured his heart at first glance. It was only through constant flirting and a few chance meetings afterhours that Lovi had finally confessed his feelings for the girl. She had at first rejected him. This occurred no less than fourteen times until Lovi had been successful upon wooing her the fifteenth time. She too had her eyes set on joining the Garrison and for a few months Lovino had their lives set out. Growing old in the Garrison, retiring and settling into a family was what Lovi pictured for his future. The day after Lovino had gifted a leather band as a sign on their engagement. The morning after Rosa had accepted the engagement. Wall Maria was struck and knocked down. The Fall of Wall Maria – Due to a short supply of those who could fight during the fall due to the shock and the absence of the Scouting Legion, Lovi and his fellow trainees were thrown in the midst of the battle with only a year of training behind them. Lovi, Rosa and four other trainees were groups and sent into the Shinigana region to help the citizen’s escape and to restore order by thinning out the amount of titans while more experienced Garrison members helped the civilians escape. Lovi constantly took a firm hold of Rosa’s hand and told her that it would be better for them to escape and return back instead of trying to fight a losing battle. Rosa had refused him telling him that it was dishonest and to do such a thing would go against everything they stood for. Upon hearing her words Lovi agreed to stay despite the fact that they had already lost several members of their team to the Titans. It was when they were the last two remaining when Lovi had had enough. He told Rosa they had to leave, there was no way they could survive the oncoming wave of titans but Rosa told him. “To leave her alone, she can take care of herself.” Lovi was heartbroken she would say such a thing. And was about to leave her in spite but caught sight of falling debris. He reached out and grasped her hand to pull her away. That was the last thing he remembered before he was knocked unconscious. Post- Fall of Wall Maria – Lovi never fully got over the death of Rosa. He woke to find her hand still in his but severed from the rest of her body, which was crushed under the falling debris. He was awarded as a hero for his bravery but the days that followed were mostly a surreal blur. Lovi had many suicidal thoughts during this time and when the time arouse instead of joining the Garrison, Lovino chose the Scouting Legion. With a 30% fatality rate, Lovino’s chances of dying were optimistically high, something Lovino welcomed full-heartedly. He joined and on the first expedition was careless when the titans attacked the carefully formatted formation. He was cornered after an aberrant scattered the formation, he had fully given up by this point, despite his mistakes leading to others being put in danger Lovino couldn’t care less. At this point he was selfish and couldn’t care less. It was only when the Titan had him in its grasp, did Lovi realise how disappointed Rosa would be in him for giving up so easily. With the last burst of anger he tore through the titan’s hand and continues now to fight in her memory. Likes: The colour red- Despite the many bad associations with the colour Lovino finds a sweet calmness in the rich and vibrant shade. The majority of his favourite things are draped in red from his favourite and yet rare fruit to the rough and tattered leather band around his left wrist. He sees the colour red as powerful and bold and able to capture attention without seeming as if it were obnoxious or overbearing. Qualities that reflect what he likes in a person. His cousin – Lovi has fond memories of the past of his cousin. “Pitat” who is 3 years younger than him and quite a bright light in the dark world in which he now lives. He doesn’t know if the rest of his family is alive and is afraid that he has lost everyone but “Pitat”. Little did he expect to find him again joining the legion he had signed himself up to kill himself with. Farming – There is a certain peacefulness that comes with the tedious work of farming. With a schedule to abide by and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with growing crops and seeing how delicious they taste after they ripen, Lovino has never fully forgotten his passion. This was his lifestyle before leaving for the military Trainees. Sometimes he questions why he did leave. Women – This isn’t so much of a like more of a passion of Lovino’s. He had perfected his ability to make the women swoon with smooth talking. A skill he acquired from his Papa and Nonno. Dislikes: Erwin – Lovi has a distinct dislike for the commander due to his absolute inability to care for his individual soldiers. He sees Erwin as inhuman and an emotionless machine. He dislikes him but still finds him too intimidating to truly want to question him. Levi – Lovino is far too alike in personality to the short captain to like him at all. Titans – Lovino hates the titans just has much as the next guy only he has no direct contact or death associated with them for certain although he has heard no word from his parents so whether or not they were killed by titans is unknown. Unnecessary death – After the death of Rosa… he has seen every death has avoidable and unnecessary Himself – Through the past Lovino has become his own worst enemy, known to torment and put down himself through his own internal monologue of thoughts this is mostly the root of his cold and brash exterior. Strengths: Sassy mouth – Lovino has a biting tongue, able to come up with biting and rude comments almost instantly. Sometimes he can’t hold back such bitting comments and now sometimes he hardly cares what he says. Speed – As a child Lovino ran from confrontation, now the practise Lovino has now aids him in battle. Agility – A natural talent he used to aid himself in times of desperation. Foresight – Lovino found through experience he was often able to predict many outcomes ranging from the worst to the best possible outcome. Weaknesses: Criticism – Lovino hates to be criticised in any form as he usually takes it personally. It is not unusual for him to sulk afterwards. Family – Lovino has a very large attachment to his family. When those who are close to him are in danger or upset Lovino usually loses sight of reason. This is a major flaw in his personality. Love – Strength – Lovino isn’t a physically strong person, his duration is also affected by this. He tends to get tired but because he’s stubborn he will never admit it. Logical thinking when under stress – Lovino when under stress can become quite agitated and crass. He tends to lash out and reason doesn’t get through to him. He doesn’t like being told what to do, but when he’s under stress he becomes even ruder. Fears: Being Alone – Lovino has lost everyone in his life, his family, his love and in a way he has lost his own life. After finding “Pitat” alive and well Lovino now has become incredibly attached to him emotionally. He fears that somehow “Pitat” will leave him too… Nightmares – Lovino has many nightmares. Mostly from the past, he is afraid of them because although he develops a hard shell around him there is nothing that can shield him from the truth when he isn’t in control. Guilt – Lovino feels guilty constantly, over things he did in the past, for things he can’t control and in general. He is afraid of people reminding him of the bad things he has done. He usually takes out his own guilt on others. Shifting blame is always a scape goat for him. Quirks: Chewing on his hair – His hair is slightly long around his jaw and during high concentration times or when his mind is idle Lovino will find himself chewing on his hair, sometimes he won’t even notice until it falls out of his mouth and sticks to his face. He then will discover some strands of his hair inside his mouth causing him great annoyance. Accent – Lovino came from a family that was quite immersed in their Italian heritage, thus his accent is quite strong. The angrier or the more excited Lovino is the more thick his accent gets and thus the harder it is to sometimes understand this. He finds this frustrating but won’t slow down his rapid fire speech pattern as your inability to understand him is your fault. The Leather –Band – Lovino had an obsessive attachment to the red Leather-Band on his wrist. Its sentimental value is higher than it’s worth as it is tattered and worn to almost ruin. Unlike all the other well-kept accessories Lovino likes to wear, he wears this band all the time and even while he washes. When asked about it Lovino will brush off any criticism or suggestions to replace in a gruff and rude way. He never talks about the small blood stains on the inner side of the band. Skillset: (On a Scale of 1 to 10: 10 being the highest) Physical Strength: 4 Intelligence: 7 Teamwork: 2 Confidence: 4 Agility: 8 Roleplay Sample: ‘Look me in the fucking eyes.’ His teeth were clenched so hard his jaw had seeped away to a ghastly pale white. ‘Right now, look me in the fucking eyes and tell me you haven’t fallen in love.’… He had seen her first from across the room. Just like his papa had said time slowed down. Heartbeats rang in his ears and wild thoughts suddenly dulled to a silence. She was gorgeous. Long blonde hair, dark soft brown eyes, Lovino thought she were better placed in the glass stained windows of his father’s holy shrine. He stood quickly before coherent thought filled his head and strode over. Once he stood before her reality hit him like a lightning strike. All the smooth words and phrases he had used once before now dried out on his tongue. What did one say when they fell in love instantly? All the pick-up lines seemed cheap. All descriptions seemed wasteful. Nothing could convey the burning feelings in his chest. So he just meekly smiled stuck out his shaking hand and whispered his name. She blinked at him, big doe eyed, before a small smiled stretched across thin pink lips. Lovino felt himself melt. Her hand met his and softly she whispered her name back. ‘Rosa.’ …’Don’t you dare tell me you have seen someone and haven’t thought: ‘That’s the one I’m going to Marry. I am going to love her and cherish her and protect her for the rest of my life’ Because you would be lying!’… Lovino was never a shy boy when it came to his feelings, but there was something about Rosa that made his confidence melt away and stumble over the simplest of words. He struggled long into the nights planning his line of attack. How would their conversations go? He usually imagined how it would play out, but then had to stop when they started making out. That would never happen by the way things were going. It was only when he passed her a note during class and arranged to meet her after lights out that things began to progress. He knew that her curiousity would have to get the better of her. That or he would be bitterly disappointed and cold. She was there though. Before he had even arrived she had been waiting for him. Perhaps it was the safety of the darkness or the fact that they were alone but Lovino felt brave. After fourteen failed attempts to catch her attention. He knew it was now or never. He took a deep breath and slowly parted his dry lips. Now or never. Just a sentence. Just a question. Now or never. ‘Will you-’ ‘No.’ …’I would never give up on her. Ever. She put me down so many times. But I didn’t give up, I knew I had to but I never did. Because I loved her! So don’t you dare, don’t you dare look down on me you heartless, soulless fucking bastard!’ He closed he eyes and looked down. ‘She didn’t give up on me either… She needed to see if I was serious… so when she finally said yes… You have no idea how that felt…’ It was so cold. So very cold. He clutched her hand tightly unable to open his eyes. Everything hurt, and everything felt numb. He couldn’t breathe, draw air in, fill his aching lungs. He tried to hear around him. See her. He could feel the warmth in her hand. She was alive. But just like him she couldn’t move. ‘Rosa…’ He rasped. There was no response but the gushing wind that hit the debris like heavy waves. He was pinned beneath. Couldn’t move, aching and numbness. He could fall asleep. But would he ever wake up? He licked his lips. ‘Rosa…’ There was shouting in the distance now. He tried to lift his head but how could he when it now seemed to weigh so much. He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t, he squeezed Rosa’s hand. ‘Rosa… They’re here… they’re here to save us.’ He rasped before a dry laugh burst from his lips. ‘Just hold on okay? Just think of happy thoughts okay? Working in the Garrison… growing old… having kids. Doesn’t it sound nice?’ He rubbed his thumb over her palm. ‘Just think happy thoughts Rosa. We’ll be safe soon.’ The shouts came closer, blurred noise became words and soon Lovi was able to push through the debris in front of him and by using larger pieces of the rubble he was able to gain their attention. He was so thirsty. His throat burned and yet until the never end he continued to talk to her. Holding her hand, feeling the warmth seep into his own. They would be able to remember this. Tell their children of their bravery. ‘Rosa they’re coming.’ He smiled still unable to open his eyes. ‘They’re coming for us.” He could hear them talking but nothing made sense. He could only think of getting out and making sure Rosa was okay. He needed to see her once more hear her voice now she was okay. He squeezed her hand again as they began pulling away the rubble. He squeezed her hand once more but this time something felt incredibly wrong. His stomach fell and his heart lurched into his throat. Her hand felt lose. It wasn’t attached to anything and as sunlight suddenly flooded onto his face. Slowly his eyes began to adjust and soon he could see. But he wish he couldn’t. Her hand was still in his but limp and lifeless… the rest of her arm and body was nowhere to be seen. Lovi screamed, but he had no air to breath. “I was there holding her fucking hand for hours reassuring her we would be okay! I promised her that she would make it through! You go through that! You go through what I had to deal with and then you tell me to fucking suck it up!” His hazel eyes flashed with anger. “You go through that and then you’ll see what it’s like to walk as if your hollow inside because nothing could ever fill that hole inside you! Nothing!” Lovino had had enough. He had said all he could. He had nothing else to say. He slumped against the wall an echoing silence surrounding him. His reflection in the mirror stared back at him watching him slowly fall apart. Lovino only cried, he could never run away from the guilt when his own worst tormentor was inside himself. Additional Information (OOC): Lovino is very unaware of a lot of things including sexuality, Gay lesbian or even transsexual lifestyles are very foreign to him and strange. He finds it confronting and not normal. He has a very large vocabulary of insults and won’t hesitate to use them.
